My third time watching it. Still one of the best comedy specials in the last couple of years. Louis CK is the philosopher of our time. Go and buy the thing if you haven’t already. It’s only 5 bucks. It did so well, I know other comedians will be trying it out. I think Jim Gaffigan is one already dipping his toes because Louis CK proved it could be done.
Watched this again, my number 10 film of 2011, this time with Danyell. An official review for the DVD is forthcoming, but I just love this film more and more every time I watch it. Can’t wait to see Jose Padilha’s Robocop.

And what a journey it was. Kevin Clash is an amazing puppeteer. And his craftsmanship and determination to be the best is seen throughout this documentary. I laughed, I cried (a lot) and fell in love with Clash all over again. Especially Elmo, who is the main focal point of Sesame Street now. Clash’s sacrifices throughout his life and his daughter’s life is sad but the happiness he gave to millions of children worldwide won’t be forgotten. Wonderful film.
As I said earlier, Edgar Wright makes movies I love. And especially when I’m sick, they give me joy. This is a film I’ve spoken about a million times, so once more I’ll say that it’s a weird combination of action film, buddy cop film, comedy and slasher flick. And it works on all those levels. If you haven’t seen this yet… well, what are you waiting for?
Another documentary that was up on Instant Watch that was taken down recently, this one centers around the cantankerous writer extraordinaire Harlan Ellison, who isn’t afraid to speak his mind and sue your pants off if you’ve taken a story idea he wrote 20 or 30 years before. I love the guy, others hate his attitude, but he grew up fighting because he was weak to bullies. And considering he is one of the most influential writers of the 20th century in a class that, in my opinion, includes Ray Bradbury, Philip K. Dick and Rod Serling, it’s no easy feat. It’s a great inside look into his life, his upbringing and his fame. Just a great documentary.
I still adore this film. This is one of my sick day films now (which fall into the comfort territory). I think Edgar Wright is one of the best filmmakers in the world today and will always be a fan of his. This is just the ultimate comic book/video game/nerd reference movie and it still makes me smile, laugh and get excited every time I watch it. The Blu is essential to own.
A fun little documentary, hosted by RuPaul, showing ‘gender benders’ (as they call it) in Hollywood. Spotlighting Tim Curry, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon and many others, it’s a fun look at something that has always been popular in entertainment. And it’s another doc that has John Landis talking in it. I can look away for a second and once I hear his voice, I’m just thinking, “Landis!” In a good way, of course. It was on Netflix Instant Watch, but sadly Starz and Netflix parted ways.
Wow. An amazing Amicus film that isn’t a horror film or anthology. Thanks to Brian Higgins, host of The Hammicus Podcast, one of my favorites around, for suggesting this film to cover on his show. You can listen to my horrible voice here. This is one that everyone should try to get their hands on. Terrance Stamp is a powerhouse here, as a man who was born into a coma and has been woken after 30 years of being asleep. And as the tagline says, can this baby kill? You need to listen to us talk about it or watch it for yourself.
